Pirate Bay co-founder Anakata in Danish hacking

Anakata, the co-founder of Pirate Bay is suspected to be involved in the biggest hacking attacks of Denmark. Anakata, whose real name is Gottfrid Svartholm Warg got arrested in Cambodia. He was arrested last year in September and was then extradited to Sweden the same year. Anakata was charged with IBM Mainframe hacking of Swedish Nordea Bank and Logica. Logica is an IT firm based in Sweden and offers tax services to the government of Sweden.

In a recent hacking attack in Denmark, it is suspected that Anakata and a Danish hacker of age 20 accessed the Social Security Numbers of Denmark along with several business numbers. On Wednesday June 5, 2013, the young Danish hacker was arrested.

Swedish authorities informed Denmark in January this year about an IP address of Denmark launching hacking attacks on a company that was responsible for handling very sensitive information for tax authority of Sweden.

In the hacking attack, hackers also managed to get access to Schengen Information System, which is used by police, border guards, judicial and visa authorities and customs all across the Schengen Area. The Schengen Information System contains several sensitive information including information on wanted people. Morten Boedskov, the Justice Minister of Denmark said that this hacking attack was a serious blow on police registers of Denmark. However, he did clarify that there were no evidences of any kind that the accessed data was put into misuse by the hackers.

It was expected that the Swedish court would deliver its verdict on Anakata’s Swedish trail on the second week of June, 2013 and that the authorities will also respond to the extradition request made by the Danish authorities. Authorities of Denmark also requested Swedish officials to put Anakata in solitary confinement custody because of flight risk.
