Hacktivists hit African National Congress (ANC) website

President of Zimbabwe, Robert Mugabe, is opposed by many. A group of hackers whom oppose the Zimbabwean President hit the website of African National Congress (ANC) on June 14, 2013. The hackers opposed the ruling party as corrupt and also accused it of having a blood-stained relationship with the former leader of the British colony.

The group of hackers also mentioned that it had managed to successfully attack the official website of the Ministry of Defence of Zimbabwe, accusing the ministry of genocide which claimed the lives of over 20,000 Ndebele people. A tweet was sent out by Anonymous Africa a few minutes before the hackers took down the ANC website. The tweet addressed secret agents, men and women that they will be hitting ANC in 50 minutes, which was responsible for aiding Mugabe for the mass murders or genocide.

According to Human Rights groups, the forces of Mugabe killed 20,000 people during early 1980. The forces took out those people who opposed the official policies. The genocide took place in the western province of Zimbabwe, which is the home of the minority tribe community known as the Ndebele.  Many people still want Mugabe put on trial for the genocide in the 1980s. However, Mugabe on the other hand told South African television that the genocide was indeed a bad incident and that his soldiers did so by directly disobeying his orders.

As of now, there is a huge tension going on between Pretoria and Harare because of the announcement of the election date. Mugabe declared that the elections will be held on July 31 which infuriated the Prime Minister Morgan Tsvangirai and MDC party led by the Prime Minister. The Prime Minister said that Mugabe violated the power-sharing agreement and is trying to create constitutional crisis.
