NASDAQ discussion community website hacked
On July 16th, 2013, the NASDAQ community discussions website was down. Users were sent an email “we regret that some of your account information – username, email address and password – may have been affected.” The email does not mention secure encryption of passwords which suggests it may have been an increasingly common “waterhole” attack. A waterhole attack utilizes the knowledge of the website such as your operating system and applets to inject a custom malware compromise into your frequently visited environment.
